Vía Elipxia, Foz of Salinas, Villalangua, Huesca

Cuando era un niño, siempre veraneaba en Villalangua, por lo que siempre quise escalar la Foz de Salinas. Gracias a que los chicos de Sueño Vertical han abierto pude hacerlo. 
When I was a child, I used to go on holiday to Villalangua, so for me the Foz of Salinas it was always a challenged I wanted to climb. Thanks to the Sueño Vertical boys I did it!. 

La vía Elipxia tiene 140 metros, repartidos en 5 largos con un grado máximo de 6b, equipada con parabolt y reuniones de anillas.

The Elipxia route has a lenght of 140 meters divide in 5 pitches, the level is 6b but it can be aid climbed, very well belayed with bolts and rings on the belay stations.

1º Largo (40 metros, 6b/A0): Empieza en un gradas herbosas hasta llegar a una reunión optativa en justo debajo de la placa de 6b. La placa puede ser facilmente acerada.

1st Pitch (40 meters, 6b/A0): it starts on a quite grassy steps until it reaches and intemediate belay station located just below the 6b slab, the slab can be easily aid climbed.

2º Largo (25 metros, 6a): Contiene un 6a escalable, llegada a la reunión en travesía a derechas.

2nd Pitch (25 meters, 6a): It has a climbable 6a, the belay station is after a small traverse to the right.

3º Largo (30 metros, V+): Largo vertical y muy bonito que termina en una cueva donde está la reunión.

3rd Pitch (30 meters, V+): Vertical and enjoyable pitch that ends in a cave where the belay station is located.

4º Largo (25 metros, 6a+/A0): Diedro-fisura muy bonito que va aumentando en dificultad hasta convertirse en 6a+, equipado pa ser hecho en A0.

4th Pitch (25 meters, 6a+/A0): A very nice Dihedral-Crack that goes getting harder and harder until reaches a 6a+ level, it is belayed in a way to be aid climbed.

5º Largo (V, 20 metros): Llega hasta la cima, contiene una reunión intermedia en la arista para montar un segundo rápel en caso de que haga mucho viento.

5th Pitch (V, 20 meters): It gets on the summit, it has an intermediate belay station on the arete to do a second abseil in case it is very windy.

Descenso: Desde la cima en 3 rapeles con cuerdas de 60 metros. El primer rapel de la cima hasta la reunión de la cueva (si hace mucho viento mejor bajar a la reunion de la arista y montar otro rapel desde allí), seguido de otro rapel hasta la primera reunión y de allí al suelo.

Descent: There are 3 abseils from the summit with 60 meters ropes. The 1st one from the summit to the cave (in case it is very windy it is advisable to go to the arete and do a second abseil from there), the 2nd one from the cave to 1st belay station, and from there the 3rd one to the ground.

Del Bolo Route, Mallo Cored, Riglos, Huesca

Tras mucho tiempo llevando camisas hawaiianas cuando vamos a escalar, esta vez decidimos darnos el nombre "Hawaiians on the Rock". Esta vez, además de Diego y mi padre Eduardo , se nos unió Adrián.

After a while wearing the hawaiian shirts in our climbs, we decided to give us the name "Hawaiians on the Rock". This time, apart from Diego and my dad Eduardo , this time Adrián joined us.

El objetivo era escalar la vía "Del Bolo" de 130 metros al mallo Cored, vía abierta por los chicos de Sendero Límite en 2012. 

Our goal was to rock climb "Del Bolo Route", an 130 meters climb on the mallo Cored, this route was opened by Sendero Límite in 2012.

La vía cuenta con un largo de 6a+ escalable en A0 V+/A0), un 6a y el resto V+ y V, completamente equipada con parabolts, recomendable llevar un estribo para el 1º largo.

The route has a 6a+ pitch "aid climbable" (V+/A0), a 6a and the rest of the route is V+ and V. The route is completely belayed with bolts, I would recommend to take a stirrup for the 1st pitch.

Vía / Route:

Largo 1 (15 metros, 6a+/A0): Subiremos encima del enorme bolo.  Desde allí, todo el largo esta desplomado, hasta que va a la izquierda en una pequeña travesía para alcanzar la reunión.

1st Pitch(15 meters, 6a+/A0): The route starts going onto a big rock, which gives the name to the route. From the "bolo" the whole pitch is overhung until the route goes to the left on a traverse to reach the belay station. 

 

Largo 2 (20 metros, V+): Muro con buen canto, después una especie de diedro muy abierto, hay un paso fino bajo la reunión.

2nd Pitch (20 meters, V+): Vertical wall with good holds, afterwards an open dihedral, and just below the belay station it is the hardest step if the pitch. 

Largo 3 (20 metros, V): Se sale hacia la izquierda y se continúa en la vertical por terreno más sencillo, pero algo roto.

3rd Pitch (20 meters, V): The route starts going to the left, afterwards it goes up in a vertical zone with lots of loose stones.

Largo 4 (35 metros, V): Largo muy bueno y mantenido, con canto. Encontraremos una reunión intermedia, pero es mejor pasársela y  hacer reunión en la gran repisa de arriba.

4rd Pitch (35 meters, V): Really good but sustained pitch with good holds. There is an intermediate belay station which is better to miss, as there is another one just few meters above on a big slab.

Largo 5 (35 metros, 6a): La vía sigue por un muro desplomado, pero con buenas presas. Por terreno sencillo saldremos de la pared y montaremos reunión en una sabina.

5th Pitch (35 meters, 6a): The route leads to an overhang, tough but with good holds. Once the overhang has being climbed, there route gets easier, belay station on a savine. 

Descenso: Rápel de 55 metros desde la sabina que hay al otro extremo del mallo (equipado con sirga y anilla)hasta el suelo. Al llegar al suelo hay una canal en la que hay montado otro rápel para llegar al camino, aunque se puede evitar, ya que hay una cuerda fija, pero es mejor hacer el rápel.. 

Descent: 55 meters abseil from a savine located on the other side of the mallo, it has a wire around the savine and a ring, to the ground. Once at the bottom of the mallo the path goes to the left of the mallo through a grassy water groove. There is the another abseil point set but it can be skipped using the permanent rope, it is advisable to abseil down.

Classic West Route to Mallo Cored, Riglos, Huesca

Otro sábado mas volvemos a Riglos. Esta vez decidimos ir al mallo Cored, para escalar la Oeste Clásica, vía clásica que ha sido reequipada.

Another Saturday, we went back to Riglos. This time we decide to climb the West Classic Route of the Mallo Cored. A classic route which has been “rebolted”.

Vía / Route:

Largo 1 (35 metros, V): Superar unas pequeñas panzas, con un paso algo raro a unos 8-10 m del suelo, que se supera subiendo poco a poco los pies. Está protegido por un parabolt.
1st Pitch (35 meters, V): It goes over small bulges, there is a weird step 8-10 meters above form the ground, easily climbable using the feet, it is well belayed with a bolt.

Largo 2 (20 metros, IV+): Largo sencillo y corto, con bastante vegetación, reunión al comienzo la chimenea. Se puede empalmar los largos uno y dos.
2nd Pitch (20 meters, IV+): Easy and short pitch, but quite grassy. The belay station is located at the bottom of the chimney. I could be linked with the 1st pitch.

Largo 3 (40 metros, IV+/V): Bonita chimenea que se sube muy bien en X, en la cual los seguros alejan un poco. La chimenea termina en una gran repisa con unas magníficas vistas sobre el valle del Gállego, donde está la reunión.

3rd Pitch (40 meters, IV+/V): Nice chimney easily climbable steming (X position), the bolts are a bit far from each other. The chimney ends on a big slab with an amazing view of the Gallego valley, the belay station is on the slab.

Largo 4 (40 metros IV+): Pequeña travesía hacia la derecha que va ascendiendo hasta llegar al espolón de la cara sur. La vía sigue por el espolón hasta la cima.

4th Pitch (40 meters IV+): Small traverse to the right that goes up until it reacheds the South face buttress, the route continues on the buttress to the top.

Descenso: Rápel de 55 metros desde la sabina que hay al otro extremo del mallo (equipado con sirga y anilla)hasta el suelo. Al llegar al suelo hay una canal en la que hay montado otro rápel para llegar al camino, aunque se puede evitar, ya que hay una cuerda fija, pero es mejor hacer el rápel..

Vía Normal, Mallo Aguja Roja, Riglos, Huesca

Normal route to the Mallo Aguja Roja, Riglos, Huesca

Aparcamos junto al Centro de interpretación de aves Arcaz, y tomamos el camino de los mallos pequeños, con dirección a la Aguja Roja.

We parked next to the Arcaz visitor center of birds and we took the path to the small "mallos", heading to the Aguja Roja.

Tras unos 15 minutos caminando llegamos a la base del mallo, el comienzo de la vía normal esta en la parte de atras del mallo

It took us about 15 minutes to get to the base of the mallo, the start of the route is located at the back of the mallo.

La vía consta de 4 largos:

The route has 4 pitches:

Largo 1 (25 metros, IV): Empieza en una chimenea, que sube al puente de roca que une las agujas de Gómez Laguna y la Aguja Roja, donde se encuentra la primera y muy cómoda reunión.

1st Pitch (25 meters, IV): It starts on a chimeney that climbs to the "rock bridge"that joins the Aguja Roja with the Mallo Gomez Laguna, where the first belay station is located.

Largo 2 (25 metros, IV+): Sigue las chapas blancas, hacia la izquierda hasta llegar al paso de entrada a la reunión, un poco desplomado pero con buenas presas.

2nd Pitch (25 meters, IV+): It goes to the left following the white bolts, the step just before the belay station is a bit overhung but there are good holds.

Largo 3 (40 metros, IV+): Chimenea bastante vertical, con buenos agarres, reunión en unas sirgas que rodean todo el mogote.

3rd Pitch (40 meters, IV+): Vertical chimney with good holds, the belay station is set on a wire that goes around a big rock.

Largo 4 (25 metros, III/IV): Es el último y más fácil, se supera un espolón que conduce hasta la cima.
4th Pitch (25 meters, III/IV): The last and the easiest pitch, it climbs an easy buttress that leads to the summit.

El descenso lo hacemos en tres rápeles, el primero hasta reunión 3, el segundo hasta la reunión 2, y el tercero hasta el suelo.

The desdent is done in 3 abseils, the first one to the 3rd belay station, the second one to the 2nd belay station and the 3rd straight to the bottom.

Ascensión al Pico Malacara (2268 m) desde Astún, Francia

Ascent to Mt Malacara (2268 m) from Astun, France

A las 9 de la mañana, Adrian Alquezar y yo salimos desde el aparcamiento de la estación de esquí de Astún hasta el pico Malacara.
At 9am, Adrian Alquezar and I started the climb from Astun's car park.

Vamos ascendiendo por la pista que sube hacia el ibón de Truchas, un poco por encima de la cota 2.000 dejamos las pistas de esquí, desviándonos hacia la derecha, con dirección al collado de Astún, y mas tarde por un pequeño tubo que sale a las palas que llevan al collado.

We ascended through the Truchas slope, a little bit higher than 2000 meters we turned right to head to Astun pass, until we reached the tube from the Malacara hillsides.

Subimos por unas palas hasta salir al collado (2.190 m), una vez en el collado giramos a la derecha y  hasta la misma cima del pico Malacara (2.268 m).

We climbed the hillsides until we got to the pass (2190 m), once at the pass we turned right and we reached the summit of Mt Malacara (2268 m).

Vía Los Picapiedra, Peña del Moro, Mezalocha, España

 Los Picapiedra Route (The Flintstones), Peña del Moro, Mezalocha, Spain

Tras bastante tiempo sin haber ido, decidimos ir  a Mezalocha a escalar la vía Los Picapiedra, reequipada por Sueño Vertical.
As we had not been in a while, we decided to go to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route Los Picapiedra (The Flintstones), one of the routes "rebelayed" by the guys from Sueño Vertical (Vertical Dream).

Los dos primeros largos de la vía siguen unos diedros escalonados con una dificultad moderada, como no son muy largos los empalmamos.
The first two pitches go through a not very hard stepped dihedrals, as they are not very long we climbed both in only one go.

El tercero y último, lo evadimos, hicimos el de la vía "Avatar"( V/6a+), ya que nos pareció que la roca era mejor que la del tercer largo de los Picapiedra. Al principio no es dificil, pero cerca del final hay un diedro muy bonito de roca compacta, que es donde está el paso más difícil del largo.
The third and last pitch, we missed it, as we climbed the one from the "Avatar route" ( V/6a+), as it seemed to have better quality of rock than the one from the Picapiedra. The first part is not difficult, but almost at the end there is a nice dihedral with compact rock, it is the toughest part of the pitch.
