Eduardo Teba y yo ponemos rumbo a la Peña Predicadera, para escalar la vía “Felisín”.

Eduardo Teba and me headed to Peña Predicadera, to rock climb the route “Felisín”.

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (40 m, 6 seg., 4b): Gran placa de roca compacta al comienzo, algo tumbada. Superado un corto resalte la placa tumba mucho.

1st Pitch (40 m, 6 bolts, 4b): Big slab with compact rock at the beginning, a bit lying down. Once overcome a short outcropping the slab lies down a lot.

Largo 2 (35 m, 8 seg., 5a): Nada más salir de la reunión una pancita donde ésta el paso del largo. El resto del largo es una larga placa de buena roca con alguna panza.

2nd Pitch (35 m, 8 bolts, 5a): Just after leaving the belay station there is a little bulge where is the crux of the pitch. The rest of the pitch is a good rock long slab with a few bulges.

 Tras desayunar, Eduardo Teba y yo ponemos rumbo a Mezalocha, para escalar la vía “Pandora”.

After breakfast, Eduardo Teba and me headed to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route “Pandora”.

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (20 m, V+): Sube por unos muros verticales, donde hay un paso muy fino un poco antes de llegar a la reunión, nosotros lo aceramos por la inseguridad que da la roca. Reunión con dos chapas unidas por un cordino, con otras dos chapas más arriba.

1st Pitch (20 m, V+): It climbs on vertical walls. There is a hard step almost at the end of pitch, we aid climbed it because this rock is really unreliable. Belay Station on 2 bolts joined by a sling, there are 2 more bolts above.

Largo 2 (20 m, 6a/b): Comienzo terroso, con roca bastante rota. Luego mejora mucho hasta alcanzar la base de una fisura off-width donde está el grado de la vía (6b). Un estribo o cordino puede ayudar a pasarlo. Reunión con cadena y anilla para rapelar.

2nd Pitch (20 m, 6a/b): It begins on completely broken rock. Afterwards, it improves a little bit until it reaches the base of a 6b off-width crack a stirrup or a sling could help to climb it. The belay Station has chain and abseiling ring.

Largo 3 (15 m, II): Glera llena de piedras. La reunión es la de la izquierda, la de la derecha pertenece a la vía Sueño Vertical.

3rd Pitch (15 m, II): It is just a scree. The belay station is the one on the left, the one on the right belongs to Sueño Vertical route.

Largo 4 (20 m, V): Largo que va por unas placas de roca fracturada.

4th Pitch (20 m, V): The pitch goes on poor rock slabs.

En torno a las 7 de la mañana Eduardo Teba y yo ponemos rumbo a la Peña Predicadera, para escalar la vía “Espolón Guanchinfú”.

Around 7am Eduardo Teba and me headed to Peña Predicadera, to rock climb the route “Espolón Guanchinfú” (Guanchinfú Buttress).

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (30 m, 8 seg., 4c): Empezamos por la variante, que está más cerca del comienzo de la vía Directa Eccos, superando unos muros con buenas presas, hasta coincidir con la primera reunión.

1st Pitch (30 m, 8 bolts, 4c): We started from the diversión start, which is near the route “Directa Eccos”, the route goes over walls with good holds, it links with the original one on the 1st belay station.

Largo 2 (30 m, 5 seg., 4b): Seguir por una amplia placa y un muro separados por una zona intermedia más tumbada.

2nd Pitch (30 m, 5 bolts, 4b): It continues on a wide slab and a wall separated by a more lying down intermediate área.

Largo 3 (30 m, 5 seg., 4b): Travesía ascendente hacia la izquierda. Reunión a la izquierda, después de pasar la torrentera.

3rd Pitch (30 m, 5 bolts, 4b): Ascending traverse towards the left. Belay station located on the left, after passing a ribs.

Largo 4 (35 m, 6 seg., 4c): Empieza en una canal vertical con buenas presas, tras pasar un tramo tumbado entra en otra canal pequeña, muy vertical, pero con buenas presas, es el paso difícil de largo.

4th Pitch (35 m, 6 bolts, 4c): It starts in a vertical groove with good holds, after passing a lying down area there is another groove, which is very vertical but with good holds, this groove is the crux of the route.

Largo 5 (30 m, 9 seg., 5b): Comienza por una placa, para luego continuar por un ancho canalizo-chimenea, seguido de un murete-techito (seguros muy cerca). Subir un poco y meterse en un canalizo que queda a la izquierda. Hay un par de pasos finos, es el tramo difícil del largo, luego se va tumbando hasta llegar a la reunión.

5th Pitch (30 m, 9 bolts, 5b): It begins in a groove, to continue in a chimney following by a bulge, (the bolts are very close from each other). After going up a little bit there is a new groove on the left. There are a couple hard steps, it is the hardest step in the pitch, after that it lies down smoothly.

Largo 6 (20 m, 4 seg., 5c): Placa tumbada al comienzo, haciendo una corta travesía a la izquierda, finaliza en una canal-chimenea vertical bien protegida.

6th Pitch (20 m, 4 bolts, 5c): Lying down slab that goes in traverse to the left, it ends in a chimney very well belayed.

La Tetería Route, Las Torcas de Chodes, Morata de Jalón, Spain

Como hacía mucho viento decidimos ir al “Macizo del Alí”, ya que está más protegida del viento.

It was such a windy day, so we decided to go to “Macizo del Alí”, as it is more protected area from the wind.

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (30 m, V): Largo de placa con buenos agarres.

1st Pitch (30 m, V): Slab with good holds.

Largo 2 (15 m, V+/6a): Se une con la vía Clásicos de Ayer y Hoy. Un primer tramo en placa para acceder a un bonito y técnico diedro con salida por un desplome con buen canto y mucho patio.

2nd Pitch (15 m, III/IV): It links with the route “Clásicos de Ayer y Hoy”. The first part of the pitch is a slab that gets to a nice and technical dihedral in which the crux is to a hole on the left, the end is an overhang with good holds at the “up-right”.

Largo 3 (25 metros V+/6a+, evitable): Placa vertical al comienzo V+, finaliza en una repisa, la última parte del largo es una placa vertical de 6a+ fácilmente evitable por la derecha (IV). Hay 2 reuniones, una en la cima y la otra en la gran roca localizada en frente de la “variable de IV”.

3rd Pitch (25 m, V+/6a+, avoidable): V+ vertical slab that ends on a ledge at the beginning, the last part of the pitch is a 5 meters 6a+ vertical slab, but it is easily avoidable anyway, as there is another line of bolts on the right (IV). There are 2 belay stations, one on the summit and another one on the big rock located in front of the “IV diversión”.

Vía Purriano, Las Torcas de Chodes, Morata de Jalón, España

Purriano Route, Las Torcas de Chodes, Morata de Jalón, Spain

Como el clima no era muy bueno, queríamos hacer algo rápido, así que decidimos escalar la vía Purriano, una vía bien asegurada y con buena roca, equipada por Yarza y Torrijo.

As the weather was not great, we wanted to climb something quick, so we decided to climb the route Purriano, a well belayed and with good rock route opened by Yarza & Torrijo.

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (30 m, V): Tiene un paso algo desplomado perfectamente protegido. Reunión cómoda en dos anillas.

1st Pitch (30 m, V): It has an overhang perfectly belayed. Confortable belay station with 2 rings.

Largo 2 (15 m, III/IV): Bastante tumbado, cuidado con las piedras sueltas, reunión muy cómoda en 2 mosquetones fijos al lado de una cueva.

2nd Pitch (15 m, III/IV): Quite lying down, beware of the loose stones. Confortable belay station with 2 rings next to the cave.

Largo 3 (25 m, V+): Empieza a la izquierda de la cueva, una vez sobre ella, va hacia la derecha.

3rd Pitch (25 m, V+): It starts on the left wall of the cave, once over it, it goes to the right.
