Golden Gate Bridge - Sausalito, San Francisco, California, USA

En nuestro último día, decidimos alquilar de nuevo una bici, para ir desde Embarcadero hasta Sausalito, una pequeña población situada al otro lado del puente Golden Gate, famosa por sus casas flotantes, además es escogida como lugar de residencia por famosos y gente de clase social alta que prefiere mantenerse alejada de las grandes aglomeraciones de la ciudad.
In our last day, we decided to rent a bike again, to go from Embarcadero to Sausalito, a small village located on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, famous for its floating houses, it is also chosen as a place of residence by celebrities and people of class high social that prefers to stay away from the big crowds of the city.

Normalmente, la gente toma el Ferry de vuelta a San Francisco, pero nosotros preferimos volver pedaleando hasta  Fisherman's Wharf, y quedarnos a comer en algún restaurante de la zona, para luego a las 5 de la tarde, ver en un pub por televisión el partido de la NBA, que iba a enfrentar a los Golden State Warriors contra Boston Celtics, una vez que terminó el partido, volvimos tranquilamente andando hasta nuestro hotel.
Normally, people take the ferry back to San Francisco, but we prefer to cycling back to Fisherman's Wharf, and stay at a restaurant in the area, then at 5pm, watch the NBA Golden State Warriors against the Boston Celtics, once the game finished, we quietly walked to our hotel.

Castro - Ocean Beach - Alamo Square, San Francisco, California, USA

Nuestro plan era visitar Castro y las Painted Ladies, el único problema fue que estaba lloviendo muchísimo, por tuvimos que cogeros el metro, hasta Castro, en vez de ir andando.
Our plan was to visit Castro, and the Painted Ladies, the only problem was that it was raining a lot, because of that we had to take the underground, to Castro, instead of walking.

En Castro, nos tuvimos que refugiar en un bar a tomar un café ya que está diluviando. Cuando la lluvia paro un poco, dimos una vuelta por las calles 17 y 19. Castro se caracteriza por ser el hogar histórico de la comunidad homosexual de San Francisco desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y también cuna de activistas que luchan por los derechos de la comunidad LGBT, por ello la bandera LGBT o bandera arcoíris, no solo ondea frente a las tiendas, sino que está pintada en los pasos de peatones y brilla incluso en los cajeros de los bancos.

In Castro, we had to take refuge in a bar for a coffee because it was pouring rain. When the rain stopped a little bit, we went for a walk through the streets 17 and 19. Castro is known as the historic home of the homosexual community of San Francisco since World War II, and also the birthplace of activists fighting for the rights of the LGBT community, because of that the LGBT flag or rainbow flag, not only waves in front of the stores, it is painted in the pedestrian crossings and shines even in the cash machines of the banks.

Tras castro decidimos ir a Ocean Beach.

After castro we decided to go to Ocean Beach.

A continuación nos dirigimos a  visitar las famosas casas Victorianas de colores "Painted Ladies" en Alamo Square, subiendo también al Buena Vista Park, una colina boscosa con bonitas vistas de San Francisco. Luego nos vamos a pub de la zona, para finalizar el tomando unas birras y descansar.

Then we went to Alamo Square, to visit the famous colored victorian houses called "Painted Ladies", also we walked up to Buena Vista Park, a wooded hill with beautiful views of San Francisco.

Luego fuimos a un pub de la zona, para finalizar el dia tomando unas birras y descansar.

Then we went to a pub in the area, to end up the day taking a few beers and rest.

Alcatraz Island, San Francisco Bay, California, Usa

Hoy vamos a visitar la isla de Alcatraz y la carcel más famosa del mundo.
Today we were going to visit Alcatraz Island and the most famous prison in the world.

A las 12, pillamos el ferry en el Pier 33, lugar de donde salen los ferrys a la isla.
At 12pm we took the ferry to the island from Pier 33, from where ferries sail to Alcatraz.

Alcatraz o  o también conocida como La Roca, es una pequeña isla ubicada en el centro de la bahía de San Francisco, En el pasado fue utilizada como fortificación militar, como prisión militar y y como prisión federal desde 1934 hasta 1963. Se convirtió en parque nacional en 1972. Sus inquilinos más famosos fueron Robert Stroud, Frank Morris y Al Capone.
Alcatraz or The Rock, as is also known, is a very small island located in the middle of San Francisco Bay. In the past, It was used as a military fortification, as a military prison, and as a federal prison from 1934 until 1963. In 1972 the island became a National Park. The most famous inmates are Robert Stroud, Frank Morris and Al Capone. 

Cuando llegamos a la isla, un Ranger nos dio la bienvenida, y nos dio además una pequeña charla sobre que hacer en ella, después nos llevó a ver un video sobre la historia de la Roca. Tras el video comenzamos la vísita por nuestra cuenta.
When we reached the island, a Ranger gave us a welcome, he also gave us a quick speech about what to do in the island, afterwards he took us to watch a video about the history of the Rock. After the video, we started the visit on our own.

Cuando empiezas la visita por tu cuenta, tienes la opción de coger un audio-guía, haciendo la visita a tu ritmo y parando donde te interesa, hay varios rincones de la isla interesantes, así como las vistas de la bahía de San Francisco.

When you start the visit on your own, you have the option of taking an audio guide, doing the visit at your own pace and stopping where you are interested, there are several interesting spots on the island, as well as the views of the San Francisco Bay.

Después de la visita comimos en Fisherman's Wharf, ya que era algo tarde, luego hicimos algunas compras por las tiendas de la zona.
After the visit, as it was a little late, we ate at Fisherman's Wharf, afterwards, we went shopping in the area.

Crissy Field - Presidio - Chinatown - Coit Tower, San Francisco, California, USA

En otro soleado día, decidimos visitar la zona del Presidio, un enorme parque construido como fuerte militar, que ahora forma parte de Golden Gate National Recreation Area. 

In another sunny day, we decided to visit Presidio area, a huge park built as a military fort that nowadays belongs to Golden Gate National Recreation Area. 

Desde el hotel nos dirigimos a Powell St, donde pillamos el cable car hasta Fisherman’s Wharf, y de allí pusimos rumbo a Crissy Field, pasando por el Aquatic Park y Fort Mason.

Form the hostel we went to Powell St, where we took the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf, from there we headed to Crissy Field, we passed through Aquatic Park and Fort Mason.

En torno a las 10:30 de la mañana llegamos a Crissy Field, un antiguo campo aéreo del Presidio que hoy en día ha sido reconvertido en un parque. Crissy Field está situado junto a la bahía, contiene una playa en la que los perros pueden estar sin correa, además de ofrecer una magnifica vista del puente Golden Gate y de la isla de Alcatraz.

At about 10:30 we reached to Crissy Field, an old U.S. Army airfield that nowadays has been restructured in a park. Crissy Field is located next to the bay, it has a beach where dogs can be without the lead, also there is an unbelievable view of Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. 

Tras Crissy Field nos dirigimos a Presidio, en nuestro camino pasamos junto al Palacio de Bellas Artes de San Francisco, un templo de planta circular rodeado de un lago. Tras ello subimos la cuesta que nos llevó al antiguo fuerte.

From Crissy Field, we went to Presidio passing next to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, a circular temple surrounded by a lake. Once passed the temple we walk up the hill to Presidio.

En Presidio, pasamos junto al The Walt Disney Family Museum, un museo dedicado a los inicios y la trayectoria de Walt Disney, aunque no llegamos a entrar. Donde sí nos paramos fue en la fuente del maestro Yoda.

In Presidio, we went to The Walt Disney Family Museum, a museum devoted to the beginnings and trajectory of Walt Disney, but we did not get in. Where we did stopped was at Master Yoda's fountain.

Desde Presidio pillamos un autobús que nos llevó a Downtown, el centro de la ciudad, y desde allí nos dirigimos a Chinatown.

From Presidio we took the bus to Downtown, the city centre", from there we headed to Chinatown.

San Francisco contiene la comunidad china más grande fuera de Asia, y su Chinatown es el barrio chino más antiguo en América del Norte. Esta formado por varias manzanas atestadas de farolillos de colores, mercadillos de alimentación asiática y tiendas de souvenirs baratos.

San Francisco has the biggest Chinese community outside of Asia, and its Chinatown is the biggest one in the USA. It has a few blocks full of Chinese lanterns, Asian food markets and cheap gifts shops.

Tras Chinatown, visitamos Little Italy y Washington , la plaza donde se encuentra la iglesia de San Pedro y San Pablo.
After Chinatown, we visited Little Italy and Washington Square, where the Sts. Peter and Paul Church is located.

El siguiente objetivo fue la Coit Tower, una torre cilíndrica con uno de los mejores miradores de San Francisco.
Our next goal was the Coit Tower, a cylindrical tower with one of the best viewpoints of the city.

Una vez finalizamos la visita a la torre, bajamos por las escaleras de Filbert St, hasta el Ferry Building.
From the tower, we walked down the Filbert St stairs to Ferry Buiding. 

Una vez en Ferry Building fuimos a comer a un sports bar.
Once in Ferry Building, we had lunch at a sports bar.

Oracle Arena, Oakland, USA

Después de comer pusimos rumbo al Oracle Arena, el pabellon de los Golden State Warriors, ya que íbamos a presenciar el partido que los locales iban a enfrentar contra Orlando Magic.

After lunch we headed to the Oracle Arena, the Golden State Warriors home ground., because we were going to watch the game that the Warriors were going to play against Orlando Magic.

Para llegar al Oracle Arena pillamos el BART hasta la estación de "Coliseum", la misma en la que nos dejo la lanzadera del aeropuerto, pero esta vez salimos por la salida principal.
We got the BART to get to the Oracle Arena, we got off at "Coliseum station", the same one where the "airport tram" left us, but this time we got off for the main exit. 

Nada más salir de la estación nos encontramos de frente con el Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, el estadio que comparten los Oaklanda Raiders de futbol americano y los Oakland Athletics de beisbol.
When we left the station the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, the stadium that the American football team Oakland Raiders and the baseball team Oakland Athletics share, came out in front of us.



Al llegar allí pensabamos, que por lo visto en la tele, en los alrededores habría un ambientazo, pero la realidad es que es todo lo contrario. Tanto el Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum como el Oracle Arena se encuentran en el medio de un polígono en el que no hay nada de nada, ni siquiera un bar en los alrededores.
When we got there, we thought that around the arena there would be a really good atmosphere for what we had seen on TV, but the truth is completely the opposite. Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and Oracle Arena are in the middle of an industrial state, and in the surroundings, there is nothing, not even a bar.

A las 5 de la tarde la aficion local empezo a aparecer, y a las 5:30 abrieron las puertas del control de metales.
At 5pm the local fans started to reach the stadium, and the metal-control gates opened at 5:30pm

La organización para pasar control y para entrar al pabellón esta muy por debajo del nivel del equipo, ya que hay solo 2 puntos de acceso y las colas son kilometricas.
The organization to pass the metal-control and the access to the stadium are far away from the team level, there are only two entrances, and that creates very long queues.

Por fín entramos en el templo del mejor equipo de baloncento del mundo, y en la entrada recibimos un bubble-head de Stephen Curry.
Finally, we got in the best team in the world temple, also at the entrance, we got a Stephen Curry´s bubble-head.

Una vez dentro del pabellon dimos una vuelta por este, antes de dirigirnos a nuestras localidades.
Once into the arena, before we went to our seats, we went for a walk around it.

Desde nuestra localidad se veía genial, y lo que más me impacto fue que durante el partido mucha gente con entrada a pie de pista decide subirse a asientos vacios para poder disfrutar de una mejor vision del juego.

The view from our seats was great, but what impressed me more was that when the game has started, many people who have seats on the court go up to try to find a seat on higher rows to have a better view of the game.

Como ya sabía por mi experiencia en el partido londinense, el espectaculo previo y durante el partido estaba garantizado, y no me defraudó, fue mucho mejor. La única malanoticia fue que Stephen Curry no pudo jugar por lesión.

The show before and during the game is guaranteed, as I already knew because of my experience of the game in London, but this time was much better. The only bad news was that Steph Curry could not play because he was injured. 

El partido en si no tuvo historia. Orlando Magic dieron buena imagen mientras les dejaron los Warriors, llegando incluso al descanso empatados a 56, pero ante Golden State se necesita algo más. En el 3º cuarto los Warriors empezaron a defender y la victoria se decantó facilmente de su lado.
El resultado final fue 104-93, pero el resultado era lo de menos, ya que fue un espectaculo inolvidable que nadie debería perderse, si se tiene la ocasión de coincidir con una partido de la NBA.
The game was nothing special. Orlando Magic played really well while Warriors allow them, even the halftime score was 56 all, but to defeat GSW is necessary something else.
In the 3rd quarter, the Warriors geared up and started to defend, what made them win easily.

The final score was 104-93, but the score was not important,  it was an unforgettable spectacle that nobody who has the chance should miss. 

A la salida del campo, volvimos a tormar el BART y regresamos al hostal.

When we left the ground, we took the BART to return to the hostel.
