Valeria Route, Peña Escuach, Panticosa, Huesca

Debido a que daban buen tiempo y los días de escalada en el pirineo están a punto de terminar. Flor, la administradora de @pirineosadventures, Diego, mi padre Eduardo y yo decidimos ir a la Peña Escuach en Panticosa.
As it was meant to be a lovely day, and the climbing days in the Pyrenees are about to end. Flor, the admin of pirineosadventures, Diego, my dad Eduardo and I decided to go to the Peña Escuach in Panticosa village.

Escalamos la vía Valeria, una vía de 170 metros 6a+ (V+/A0).

We rock climbed Valeria route, a 170 meters route 6a+ (V+/A0).

Aproximación: El camino se encuentra en unos raíles metálicos que ascienden pegados a una gran tubería. Tras unos 50 metros de subida, hay un pequeño hito de piedra, indicando que el camino va por debajo de la gran tubería. Tras la tubería hay un sendero que se adentra en un corto bosque. Al acabar el bosque se llega a la zona de las paredes, hay una cuerda para ayudar a llegar a la base de la vía. La vía esta situada justo a la izquierda de la vía Merche.

Access: The track is on a rail that goes next to a big pipe. After about 50 meters climb, there is a small boundary marker, where the track turns left and goes under the big pipe. Once passed the pipe there is a footpath which goes into a little forest. The wall is just at the end of the forest, there is a rope to help to reach to the base of the route. The route is located just on the left of the route "Merche".

Vía / Route:

Largo 1 (30 metros, 6a+): Largo mantenido de V, con una pequeña panza de 6a+ en el medio del largo. Reunión justo después de pasar una sabina.

1st Pitch (30 meters, 6a+): Sustained Vº pitch, with the only diffilcuty of one 6a+ buldge in the midle of the pitch. Belay station just after a savine.

Largo 2 (30 metros, II): Andar sobre terreno fácil.

2nd Pitch (30 meters, II): Walk over easy ground.

 

Largo 3 (25 metros, V+): Largo vertical con una última parte sin muchos agarres.

3rd Pitch (25 meters, V+): Vertical pitch, in which there are not many holds in the last part.

Largo 4 (15 metros, 6a): El paso estrella de la vía. Contiene una panza desplomada con un solo seguro en ella, recomendable subir por la derecha para llegar a enganchar y una vez enganchado pasar en travesía hacia la izquierda. Reunión justo encima de la panza.

4th Pitch (15 meters, 6a): The crux of the route. It has an overhung bulge with only one bolt on it, it is advisable to attemp it climbing to the right, to be able to reach the bolt easily. Once clicked, go to the left in traverse. Belay station just above the bulge.

Largo 5 (15 metros, I): Caminar, tener cuidado de no resbalarse con las rocas piedras sueltas.

5th Pitch (15 meters, I): Easy walk, be careful not to slip with the loose stones.

Largo 6 (25 metros, V): Bonito muro vertical. Reunión cómoda en una placa.

6th Pitch (35 meters, 6a): Quite enjoyable vertical wall. Confortable belay station on a slab.

Largo 7 (30 metros, 6a): Largo fácil con un punto de 6a evitable por la izquierda. Reunión en la cima.

7th Pitch (30 meters, 6a): Easy pitch with a 6a spot easily missable on its left. Belay station on the summit.

Descenso: Seguir los mojones hasta el sendero.

Descent: Follow the boundary markers to reach the foot track.

Vía Concepción García, Peña del Reloj, Morata de Jalón, Zaragoza

Concepción García Route, Peña del Reloj, Morata de Jalón, Zaragoza

Como daban llover a las 12. Eduardo, Diego, Adrián y yo pusimos rumbo a Morata de Jalón para escalar algo rápido, nos decidimos por la vía Concepción García de la Peña del reloj.

As it was meant to rain at 12pm. Eduardo, Diego, Adrián and me decided to go to Morata de Jalón, to rock climb a quick route. We decided to rock climb the route Concepción García on Peña del Reloj.

La vía está asegurada mediante parabolts, y tiene 4 largos:

The route is belayed with bolts, and it has 4 pitches:`

Largo 1 (30 metros, V+): El primer largo comenzaba por una placa tumbada de III situada a la derecha de la chimenea, aunque ahora han puesto 2 parabolts en la placa. La vía continua por la chimenea, hasta llegar a la reunión colgada. Posibilidad de empalmar los dos primeros largos.

1st Pitch (30 meters, V+): The first pitch used to start on a lied slab located just on the right of the chimney, but now,  2 bolts have been set on the slab located just below the chimney. The route continues in the chimney until reaching a “hung” belay station, it cab be missed, as there is a chance of linking the first 2 pitches.

Largo 2 (25 metros, 6a): El segundo largo continúa por la chimenea, luego sigue por una placa, en la cual algún seguro aleja un poco, reunión muy cómoda reunión.

2nd Pitch (25 meters, 6a): The second pitch carries on in the chimney, afterwards it is followed by a slab in which some people could think that the bolts are quite far from each other, really confy belay station.

Largo 3 (20 metros, 6a+): Trepar hasta un bonito y corto diedro un poco lavado (6a/A0), equipado con tres parabolt, una vez superado la reunión unos metros más arriba.

3rd Pitch (20 meters, 6a+): Easy climb until a quite polished 6a+ dihedral (6a/A0) belayed with bolts, once climbed the belay station is a few meters above.

Largo 4 (25 metros, V): Canal con buenos cantos, aunque hay bastante roca suelta, y equipada con parabolt, que llega a la cima, donde la reunión ha sido desequipada, nosotros la montamos con friends.

4th Pitch (25 meters, V): Groove with good holds, but loose rocks, well belayed with bolts that reaches the summit, the belay station has been removed so we had to set it with cams.

Descenso: Siguiendo los mojones hasta el sendero que lleva a la pista.

Descent: Following the boundary markers until the path that leads to the road.

Vía Negro sobre Rosa, Mallo de en Medio, Riglos, Huesca

Negro sobre Rosa Route, Mallo de Enmedio, Riglos, Huesca

Diego, mi padre y yo fuimos a Riglos, para escalar la vía Negro sobre Rosa. 

Diego, my dad and me went to Riglos, to rock climb the route Negro sobre Rosa (Black over Pink), the name of the route comes from an old route called  “La Rosaleda”, and rosa means pink in Spanish, and “Negro sobre Rosa” shares some pitches with it.

Vía de 200 metros, dividida en 8 largos. Situada en el mallo de Enmedio, mallo situado entre los mallos Cuchillo y Frechín. Los primeros largos son comunes con la restaurada vía Canal de la Rosaleda del año 1960. Los siguientes 3 largos son completamente nuevos.

The route has a lenght of 200 meters, divided in 8 pitches in the "mallo de Enmedio", the mallo located between the mallos "Cuchillo" and Frechin.  The first 5 pitches belong to the old route “La Rosaleda”, opened in 1960. The 3 next pitches are completely new.

 

Equipamiento con parabolt de métrica 10 mm y reuniones de anillas. Roca en general buena, aunque hay tramos más rotos.

Belayed with bolts, size 10 mm, and there are rings attached to them on the belay stations. Good rock in general, but there are section of loose rock.

Vía / Route:

 

Largo 1 (30 metros, V): La vía comienza con una pequeña panza y continúa por una chimenea. Después de pasar un estrechamiento a la izquierda está la reunión.

1st Pitch (30 meters, V): The route begins on a small bulge, followed by a chimney. Further up there is a narrowing, once it has been climb the belay station is located on the left.

Largo 2 (30 metros, V+): La vía sigue por la chimenea. La reunión se encuentra en una panza, pero para llegar a ella hay un paso un poco raro.

2nd Pitch (30 meters, V+): The route carries on in the chimney. The belay station is on a bulge on the left, but to access to it there is a bit awkward step.

Largo 3 (20 metros, III): Travesía hacia la izquierda por terreno un poco roto, después hay una cuerda fija.

3rd Pitch (20 meters, III): Traverse to the left in a quite loose rock area. Afterwards there is a permanent rope.

Largo 4 (30 metros, 6a): Fisura vertical, hay buenos agarres en la parte de arriba, pero hay que mirar porque hay bastante roca suelta, la reunión se monta en un árbol.

4th Pitch (30 meters, 6a): Vertical crack, there are good holds on the upper part but “watch out” for loose rocks, belay station on the tree.

Largo 5 (20 metros, III): Canal terrosa equipada con una cuerda fija hasta llegar a la base del espolón final.

5th Pitch (20 meters, III): Earthy groove belayed with a permanent rope that leads to the base of the last buttress.

Largo 6 (35 metros, 6a): Largo sinuoso que pasa alguna pequeña panza, poner alguna cinta larga para evitar el roce de cuerdas.

6th Pitch (35 meters, 6a): Bendy pitch that goes over little bulges, it is advisable to use long quickdraws.

Largo 7 (25 metros, 6a+): Largo estrella de la vía. Muro vertical de buena roca y mantenido, en los puntos más dificiles hay cordinos.

7th Pitch (25 meters, 6a+): The crux of the route. Vertical and sustained wall, on the hardest spots there are straps.

Largo 8 (20 metros, 6a): Largo sencillo excepto por dos pequeñas panzas, una al principio y otra a mitad del largo.

8th Pitch (20 meters, 6a): Easy pitch, apart from two little sluges, one at the beggining and another one in the middle of the pitch.

 

Descenso: Subir hasta la cima del mallo, luego girar hacia la derecha para llegar a un muro asegurado con una cadena, recomendable subirse al árbol. Una vez superado el muro seguir los mojones hasta el sendero.

Descent: Climb to the top of the mallo, then go right to find a wall belayed with a chain, it is advisable to climb up the tree first. Once climbed the wall, follow the boundary markers to reach the track.

Vía Reina de los Mallos, Peña Ruaba, Huesca

Vía Reina de los Mallos (Queen of the Mallos), Peña Ruaba, Huesca

De nuevo en Peña ruaba junto a mi primo y mi padre.
Once again in Peña Ruaba with my cousin and my dad.

Aproximación: El acceso se realiza desde el citado parking, dirigiéndonos al inicio de la "Ferrata Sur" (la que está a la derecha del Macizo). Justo donde comienza la sirga, sale un camino que continúa a la derecha horizontalmente. El camino está señalizado, se pasa un tramo rocoso asegurado con una cuerda fija, hasta aproximarnos al fondo de un barranco, que es donde comienza la vía.
Access: Follow the path that leads to the “South Face” of the via ferrata, once at the base, follow the track that goes to the right, it is well signed. There is a exposed area, but it is well belayed with a permanet rope, the path leads to the bottom of the canyon, where the route starts. 

Vía / Route:

Largo 1 (35 metros, V): La vía empieza en el fondo del barranco, y continúa superando unas pequeñas panzas sin gran dificultad. Hacer reunión en un gran arbusto. Hay otra línea de parabolts situada a la izquierda de la vía

1st Pitch (35 meters, V): The route begins at the bottom of the canyon, it continues going over a few easy bulges. Belay station locate don a big Bush. There is anothe line of bolts locate don the left of the route.

Largo 2 (35 metros, 6a): Empieza en un tramo herboso en la que hay una cuerda fija, continua en un bonito muro vertical que lleva a un espolón más tumbado donde está la reunión. 
2nd Pitch (35 meters, 6a): It starts in a grassy section in which there is a permanent rope, It continues on a nice vertical wall that leads to a more lying buttress where the belay station is.

Largo 3 (35 metros, IV): Salir de la reunión a la izquierda y continuar en diagonal hasta unos árboles. 
3rd Pitch (35 meters, IV): Leave the belay station to the left and carry on climbing diagonally until reaching the trees.

Largo 4 (35 metros, V): El largo empieza yendo hacia la izquierda, hasta llegar a muro vertical que lleva a una chimenea con grandes árboles, tras superar los árboles hay una cueva donde está la reunión.
4th Pitch (35 meters, V): The pitch starts going left, until reaches a vertical wall that leads to a chimney in which there are big trees, after having climbed the trees there is a cave in which the belay station is located.

Largo 5 (25 metros, V+): Chimenea vertical fácilmente escalable en X.
5th Pitch (25 meters, V+): Vertical chimney, easily climbable in back and foot.

Largo 6 (25 metros, 6a): Empieza en un espolón vertical al que sigue una zona más tumbada que lleva a otro espolón donde está la reunión.
6th Pitch (25 meters, 6a): Vertical buttress followed by a more liying area that leads to another buttress, where the belay station is located.

Largo 7 (35 metros, V+): Dirigirse a la derecha por terreno fácil, cruzar una pequeña canal, superar un muro vertical (al final del cual hay una reunión opcional) y proseguir por una bonita placa de roca excelente. 
7th Pitch (35 meters, V+): Go right on eady ground, cross an small groove to reach to a very enjoyable vertical wall, there is an intermediate belay station, afterwards the route continues on a slab with excellent rock.

Largo 8 (45 metros, IV+): Escalar un resalte y después de pasar a la altura de un arbusto continuar en clara diagonal izquierda, por una vira. Si continuásemos recto, nos meteríamos en otra vía abierta por Ignacio Cinto. Montar reunión en dos chapas unos metros antes de llegar a la cima. 
8th Pitch (45 meters, IV+): Climb a small bulge until passing next to a bush, where the route turns diagonally to the left, there is another route straight above, but that is another route opened by Ignacio Cinto. Set the belay station on 2 bolts located a couple meters below the summit.

Descenso: Desde la cima se ve la sirga de la ferrata a la izquierda, descenso por la ferrata.
Descent: On the summit, there is a safety line from the via ferrata, once clicked to the wire, follow the ferrata down.
