Ascent to Mt Bénou (2.267 m) & Mt Belonseiche (2.297 m), Astún, Spain

Aparcamos al final del parking de tierra de la parte alta de Astún, ya que llevábamos la idea de realizar la circular de los picos Benou y Belonseiche.

We parked at the end of the of the earthy car park located in the higher part of Astun, as we wanted to do the circular route of the peaks Benou and Belonseiche.

Enfrente del parking, sale una pista que recorremos hasta llegar a un muro de contención de aludes, desde donde giramos a la derecha para comenzar la subida al pico Benou. 

In front of where we parked, it starts a track that goes to an avalanche retaining wall, once at the walls we went rightwards to begin the ascent to Mt Benou. 

Vamos en horizontal hacia el Este para pasar justo bajo una pareja solitaria de para-aludes, tras la cual vamos trazando zetas para subir a los planos superiores y llegar al collado del pico Benou (2.267 m), poco después hacemos cima. En la cima hicimos una pequeña parada para ponernos los crampones y tomar algunas fotos.

We headed East in horizontal until we passed just below a pair of avalanche contenders, after that we began the climb doing “Zigzag” to climb the steeper áreas until we got to the mountainside of the peak Benou (2.267 m), no long after, we reached the summit. On the summit we took a break to put the crampons on and take some photos.

Continuamos por la arista hasta llegar al pico Belonseiche (2293 m).

We continued over the ridge until we reach to the summit of Mt Belonseiche (2293 m).

Desde la cima del pico bajamos al ibón de Escalar, para luego coger la pista que lo une con el de Truchas, y comenzar un rápido descenso hasta Astún, por nieve más blanda.

From the summit we skied down to the ibón de Escalar (Escalar Tarn), to get there the track that joins it with Ibon de Truchas (Truchas Tarn), from where we started a quick descent on better quality snow.
