Old Railway line Witham - Maldon y Dambury Park, Essex, England

Because of the weather was not good at all for road cycling, Paul the leader of  “Peverel Velo Club”, the cyclist club I belong to, decided that this time was better to ride the mountain bikes.

Vía Ferrata del Sorrosal, Broto, Huesca, España

Via Ferrata Sorrosal, Broto, Huesca, Spain

At about 8am, Eva and I went from Zaragoza to Broto, we took the new road that joins Sabiñánigo with Fiscal, then we follow the signs to Broto, we cross the village and go down a street that goes to the bridge of the Ara river, we parked in a small car park located at the right of the bridge.

It was a great day, but we have to wait for the sun to rise because in the area of the ferrata it was quite cold, we used that time to visit the waterfall and have a coffee in the bar in front of the car park.

The start of the ferrata is 5 minutes walk, just to the left of the Sorrosal waterfall.

The ferrata in its first sections is equipped with some staples and pins, always turning to the right until reaching a section with 5 ladders, always having the waterfall visible on our right, the last ladder reaches to the entrance of a cave that after going through it took us inside of  the Sorrosal canyon.

We continued along the left side of the canyon until we reached a bridge made with 3 cables, one at the same level that the ground and 2 on the sides 1 meter above to belay and hold yourself. Once on the right side of the canyon, we started to climb up with the help of staples, ropes and chains.
When we reached the forest we follow the cable until the end of the via ferrata.

We returned to the village along the path that connects Fragen with Broto.

At about 11:00 we returned to Canfranc Estación. It was a great day, so to take advantage of it I decided to go to the wall of Coll de Ladrones to climb a route until lunchtime.

The name of the route is painted on the wall. The level is 5c especially in the 2nd pitch, also the bolts in this pitch are quite far from each other.

Pitch 1 (30 meters 4c): Vertical slab with good holds, it requires a lot of patience because the holds are not easy to find. Following the bellay points we will see a natural pro, from there it starts a traverse to the right until a belay station that has to be use as a normal belay point because a little higher there is another belay station with 2 bolts.

2nd Pitch (30 meters 5c): Go up straight and after belay in the 2nd bolt IMPORTANT! you have to go to the left, towards a nail in a crack, since above the 2nd bolt there is a bolt line that is an alternative route of 6a. FROM THIS POINT THE ANCHORS ARE QUITE FAR AWAY. After the nail, you have to go up straight (try to belay with a quick draw in one of the bushes) to a small roof that is easily to overcome helping yourself with the crack, once passed the roof you will get to slab. The slab is the most difficult part of the route and it is good idea to belay putting a friend in the crack. The final part of the pitch is another very exposed slab that reaches to the crack, where the belay station is, composed of 2 bolts.

3rd Pitch (25 meters 4b): Slab. You have to climb the crack to find the first parabolt, after belaying yourself, there is a horizontal traverse to the right (5-6 meters) to a blue anchor. From this point climb straight up to the chain that is not the belay station, after belaying we continue to the top, where the real belay station is.

Ascensión al Pico La Raca (2.284 m) con Esquís de Travesía, Astún, Huesca, España

Ascent to Mt La Raca Peak (2.284 m) on Touring Skis, Astún, Huesca, Spain

At 8 am my dad Eduardo, Fernando and me arrived to Astún Ski Resort.

Even knowing that there was still no snow, we decided to climb to the peak La Raca by the ski pistes of Astún.

We started the climb taking the descending tube run, which had practically no snow, we continued taking the run Prado Blanco to the Cafeteria. From the cafe we headed to the tube of the right, afterwards we faced the last slope to the top.
