Vía Los Picapiedra, Peña del Moro, Mezalocha, España

 Los Picapiedra Route (The Flintstones), Peña del Moro, Mezalocha, Spain

Para no desaprovechar el día de fiesta, Adrián y yo decidimos ir  a Mezalocha a escalar la vía Los Picapiedra, reequipada por Sueño Vertical.
As we did not want to waste the day off, Adrián and I decided to go to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route Los Picapiedra (The Flintstones), one of the routes "rebelayed" by the guys from Sueño Vertical (Vertical Dream).

Largos 1 y 2 (40 metros, V): Diedro escalonado con una dificultad moderada. Normalmente los enlazamos, esta vez no lo hicimos, debido a la cantidad de roca suelta que había.
1st & 2nd Pitch (40 meters, V): Not very hard stepped dihedral. We usually link both pitches, but we decided not to do it this time, due to the high amount of loose rocks that there was this time.

Largo 3 (20 m, 6a): Hicimos el de la vía "Avatar", ya que nos pareció que la roca era mejor que la del tercer largo de los Picapiedra. Al principio no es dificil, pero cerca del final hay un diedro muy bonito de roca compacta, que es donde está el paso más difícil del largo (V+/A0).
3rd Pitch (20 m, 6a/A0): We climbed the third pitch of the "Avatar route", as it seemed to have better quality of rock than the one from the Picapiedra. The first part is not difficult, but almost at the end there is a nice dihedral with compact rock, it is the toughest part of the pitch (V+/A0).

Tras bastante tiempo sin haber ido, decidimos ir  a Mezalocha a escalar la vía Los Picapiedra, reequipada por Sueño Vertical.
As we had not been in a while, we decided to go to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route Los Picapiedra (The Flintstones), one of the routes "rebelayed" by the guys from Sueño Vertical (Vertical Dream).

Los dos primeros largos de la vía siguen unos diedros escalonados con una dificultad moderada, como no son muy largos los empalmamos.
The first two pitches go through a not very hard stepped dihedrals, as they are not very long we climbed both in only one go.

El tercero y último, lo evadimos, hicimos el de la vía "Avatar"( V/6a+), ya que nos pareció que la roca era mejor que la del tercer largo de los Picapiedra. Al principio no es dificil, pero cerca del final hay un diedro muy bonito de roca compacta, que es donde está el paso más difícil del largo.
The third and last pitch, we missed it, as we climbed the one from the "Avatar route" ( V/6a+), as it seemed to have better quality of rock than the one from the Picapiedra. The first part is not difficult, but almost at the end there is a nice dihedral with compact rock, it is the toughest part of the pitch.

¡Finalmente la cuarentena nos permite escalar!, por lo que en nuestro primer día después de mucho tiempo decidimos ir  a Mezalocha a escalar la vía Los Picapiedra, reequipada por Sueño Vertical.
Finally the lockdown allows rock climbing, so on our first day back at it we decided to go to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route Los Picapiedra (The Flintstones), one of the routes "rebelayed" by the guys from Sueño Vertical (Vertical Dream).

Los dos primeros largos de la vía siguen unos diedros escalonados con una dificultad moderada, como no son muy largos los empalmamos.
The first two pitches go through a not very hard stepped dihedrals, as they are not very long we climbed both in only one go.

Esta vez, en vez de hacer el largo final de la vía Avatar,  decidimos hacer el largo original de la vía (6c/A0). Sin duda alguna el mejor largo de Mezalocha, además cuenta con buena roca.
This time, instead of climbing the last pitch of the Avatar route, we decided to climb the original last pitch of the route (6c/A0). The best pitch in the whole Mezalocha with no doubt, it also has quite good rock quality.

La primera parte sube por una bonita fisura muy bonita (V/V+), a partir de aquí comienza lo difícil. La vía continúa por una travesía hacia la derecha hasta llegar a una reunión intermedia, que nosotros evadimos. Tras la reunión la vía sube en travesía hacia la izquierda.
The first part goes up on a very nice crack (V/V+), from here it begins the hard part. The route continues on a traverse towards the right, it ends on a intermediate belay station that we avoid using. After the belay station there is another traverse but this time towards the left.

Esta vez nos dirigimos a Mezalocha, para escalar otra de las vías abiertas por los chicos de Sueño Vertical, se encuentra situada en la Peña del Águila, a la izquierda de la vía Los Picapiedra.

This time we headed to Mezalocha, to rock climb another route opened by the guys from sueño Vertical, it is located on the Peña del Aguila, at the left of Los Picapiedra route.

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (20 m, V+/A0): Subir por un muro vertical (V+), luego hay un par de pasos que hemos subido en A0 debido a la roca bastante mediocre.

1st Pitch (20 m, V+/A0): Vertical wall (V+), there are a couple steps where we aid climbed because of the high amount of loose stones.

Largo 2 (20 m, V+/A0): Sube por un diedro de roca bastante mejor, el primer paso del largo lo hemos hecho en A0. El resto del diedro puede ser V+/6a, al llegar a la zona de roca gris, hay un paso bastante fino (6a+), que nosotros volvimos a acerar. Cómo la R2 es bastante incómoda, nosotros hicimos reunión directamente en la R2 bis, aunque entonces no ves al compañero, y como además hacía bastante viento, se oye muy mal al compañero.

2nd Pitch (20 m, V+/A0): It goes up in a dihedral with better rock, we aid climbed the first part, the rest of the dihedral is V+/6a, once on the grey rock there is a step that is the crux of the route as it is a 6a+, we aid climbed it as well. As the 2nd belay station is quite unconfortable, we decided not to use it and we went to the 2nd Bis straight away, where the 3rd pitch starts, the only problem is that you cannot see your colleague and if it is windy is quite hard to comunicate.

Eduardo Teba y un servidor pusimos rumbo a Mezalocha, para escalar la vía Sueño Vertical, situada en la Peña del Moro, se encuentra situada a la izquierda de la vía Original.

Eduardo Teba and me set course to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route Sueño Vertical (Vertical Dream), located on the Peña del Moro, on the left from the Original route.

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (25 m, V+/6a): Sube por unos muros con bastante tierra en los agarres, para luego continuar por una fisura con roca bastante deficiente hasta llegar a la reunión.
1st Pitch (25 m, V+/6a): It climbs on walls with earthy holds, it continues on a broken crack until the belay station.



Largo 2 (20 m, 6a+): Comienza por un muro de roca dudosa, continuando luego con tendencia hacia la izquierda hasta llegar a la base de una corta canal donde está la reunión, nosotros aceramos algún paso debido a la inseguridad que da la roca.
2nd Pitch (20 m, 6a+): It starts on an unreliable rock wall, afterwards the route goes to the left until it reaches the base of a groove, where the belay station is, we aid climbed some steps because of the poor quality of the rock.

Empalmamos los dos primeros largos.
We linked the first two pitches.

Largo 3 (15 m, IV): Pequeña canal, luego glera hasta llegar a la pared. La reunión es la de la derecha, la de la izquierda pertenece a la vía Avatar.
3rd Pitch (15 m, IV): Small groove, afterwards a scree until reaching to the next wall. The belay station is the one on the right, the one on the left belongs to Avatar route.

Largo 4 (30 m, V+): Subir por una fisura de mejor roca, bastante vertical y con algunos pasos bastante bonitos.
4th Pitch (30 m, V+): It goes up on a better rock crack, quite vertical and with some parts are quiet enjoyable.

Vía Pandora, Peña del Moro, Mezalocha, España

 Tras desayunar, Eduardo Teba y yo ponemos rumbo a Mezalocha, para escalar la vía “Pandora”.

After breakfast, Eduardo Teba and me headed to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route “Pandora”.

Reseña / Route:

Largo 1 (20 m, V+): Sube por unos muros verticales, donde hay un paso muy fino un poco antes de llegar a la reunión, nosotros lo aceramos por la inseguridad que da la roca. Reunión con dos chapas unidas por un cordino, con otras dos chapas más arriba.

1st Pitch (20 m, V+): It climbs on vertical walls. There is a hard step almost at the end of pitch, we aid climbed it because this rock is really unreliable. Belay Station on 2 bolts joined by a sling, there are 2 more bolts above.

Largo 2 (20 m, 6a/b): Comienzo terroso, con roca bastante rota. Luego mejora mucho hasta alcanzar la base de una fisura off-width donde está el grado de la vía (6b). Un estribo o cordino puede ayudar a pasarlo. Reunión con cadena y anilla para rapelar.

2nd Pitch (20 m, 6a/b): It begins on completely broken rock. Afterwards, it improves a little bit until it reaches the base of a 6b off-width crack a stirrup or a sling could help to climb it. The belay Station has chain and abseiling ring.

Largo 3 (15 m, II): Glera llena de piedras. La reunión es la de la izquierda, la de la derecha pertenece a la vía Sueño Vertical.

3rd Pitch (15 m, II): It is just a scree. The belay station is the one on the left, the one on the right belongs to Sueño Vertical route.

Largo 4 (20 m, V): Largo que va por unas placas de roca fracturada.

4th Pitch (20 m, V): The pitch goes on poor rock slabs.

Descenso: Andando

Descent: By foot
