Gran Travesía, Las Torcas de Chodes, Morata de Jalón, Zaragoza

Vicky, Eduardo y yo volvemos a las Torcas, para realizar la vía Gran Travesía. 

Vicky, Eduardo and me went back to the Torcas de Chodes to rock climb the route Gran Travesia (Great Traverse). 

Vía de V° y 230 metros de recorrido dividida en 9 largos. Está equipada con parabolts del 10, pintados en color verde para no dar lugar a confusiones con equipamientos de las muchas vías que atraviesa. Las reuniones coinciden con algunas de las vías existentes.

Vº and 230 meters route divided  in 9 pitches . Completely belayed with size 10 bolts, the bolts have been painted in green to avoid comfusions with other routes, it shares some belay stations with other routes.

La vía comienza en el pequeño gendarme a la derecha del túnel y va siguiendo en travesía horizontal a la derecha, hasta terminar en la Aguja Olvidada.

The route starts on the small pillar located at the right of the tunnel, and it carries on horizontally to the right all the way until the Aguja Olvidada (Forgotten Neddle). 

Vía/Route

Largo 1 (25m, IV): Largo fácil que sube al gendarme.

1st Pitch (25m, IV): Easy pitch that climbs the pillar.

Largos 2 y 3 (45m, V): Largo más difícil de la vía, contiene un par de partes en las que hay que pensar.

2nd and 3rd Pitch (45m, V): Hardest pitch of the route, in a couple parts you will need to think.

Largos 4 y 5 (60m, IV): Largo bastante fácil en general, con un algún punto en el que hay que agarrarse.

4th and 5th Pitch (60 m, IV): Quite easy pitch in general, it has som spots you will have to be careful.

Largos 6 y 7 (55m, V): Se encuentra el paso clave de la vía, hay que tener cuidado porque hay mucha roca suelta.

Pitch 6th and 7th (55m, V): It has the crux of the route, be careful, be careful because there are lots of loose stones.

Largo 8 (20m, IV): Largo fácil pero bastante terroso.

8th Pitch (20m, IV): Easy pitch but quite earthy.

Largo 9 (30m, V): Travesía descendente que presenta algo de dificultad.

9th Pitch (30m, V): Decending traverse that could be quite skillful.

Descenso: Nosotros rapelamos, pero se puede descender por la ferrata de la Aguja Olvidada.

Descent: We abseiled down, but it is possible as well to downclimb the via ferrata from the Aguja Olvidada.

Vía Cintero a Aguja Olvidada, Las Torcas de Chodes, Morata de Jalón, Zaragoza

Una vez más, mi padre Eduardo y un servidor, ponemos rumbo a Chodes. Esta véz decidimos hacer la vía cintero a la Aguja Olvidada.

Once again, Eduardo, my dad and me headed to Chodes, to rock climb the route Cintero to the aguja Olvidada (Forgotten Neddle).

Vía de 40 m completamente equipada con parabolt, que solamente presenta dificultad a la hora de superar el techo final, aunque cuenta con buenos agarres.

The route has a lenght of 40 meters, well belayed with bolts, quite easy route apart from the last roof, in which it is necessary to push, it has good holds anyway.

Vía Hilaria, Paredes Negras, Morata de Jalón, Zaragoza

Una vez más volvemos a las Torcas de Chodes, aunque esta vez ponemos rumbo a las Paredes Negras, para realizar la vía Hilaria en la Pared del Burdel, posiblemente la vía más bonita de fisuras de Morata, y de paso volver a “sentir el picorcito” que produce una buena vía de escalada.

Once again we went to Las Torcas de Chodes, but this time we decided to go to Las Paredes Negras (The Black Walls), to climb thr route Hilaria on the Pared del Burdel (The Whorehouse Wall), possibly the best “crack route” in the whole Morata area, it also would be nice to feel again that feeling of a good climb.

La vía está totalmente equipada con parabolt, pero no está de más llevar algún fisurero.

The route is completey belayed with botls, but it would be wise to take some wallnuts with you.

Largo 1 (30m, V+): La vía comienza en la zona más baja de la muralla cerca del río, escalando una fisura vertical dentro de una canal (si ha llovido hace poco resbala mucho, por lo que aumenta bastante su dificultad) hasta alcanzar una cornisa, la reunión está a su izquierda.

1st Pitch (30m, V+): The route begins at the bottom of the wall, next to the river. It goes up in a vertical crack inside of a water groove (If it reined no long before it might be wet and very slippery, so it becomes much harder) until it reaches a ledge, belay station located on the left of that ledge.

Largos 2 y 3 (55m, V): El segundo y tercer largo son más fáciles que el primero. Se comienza por unos bloques verticales, para salir más arriba a una fisura que se puede escalar en bavaresa, la reunión se encuentra justo debajo de la última gran pared.

2nd & 3rd Pitch: The second and third pitch are easier than the first one. It starts on vertical slabs, higher up there is a crack that can be climbed using the layback technique, belay station located just at the bottom of the last big wall.

Largo 4 (35m, 6ª/V+A0): Continuar subiendo por unas gradas y resaltes hasta la base de una fisura. La fisura surca un muro impresionante de 30 metros, empezando en un techo por la izquierda (6a/V), es el plazo clave de la vía. Una vez en la fisura suaviza un poco, aun así hay que empujar (V+), en la parte final se convierte en una “canal - chimenea” (IV/IV+), llega a la base del siguiente muro, donde está la reunión.

4rd Pitch (35m, 6ª/V+ If Aid Climb): Continue going up on easy steps until reaching the bottom of a crack. The crack goes through an impressive 30 meters wall, it starts on the left of a roof where the crux of the pitch is (6a/V). Once in the crack it gets a bit easier, but you have to puss anyway (V+). In the last part the route becomes a “water groove - chimney” (IV/IV+), it reachs the bottom of the next wall, where the belay station is.

Largo 5 (20m, IV): Largo fácil equipado con 3 clavos más la reunión, nosotros no lo escalamos.

5th Pitch (20m, IV): Easy pitch belayed with 3 pegs and the belay station, we did not climb it.

Descenso: Atravesar por las Terrazas intermedias hacia la derecha, hasta llegar al rapel de unos 55 metros de la vía original.

Descent: Go through the intermediate scree towards the right, until reaching the abseil 55 meters abseil located at the end of the “Original route”.

Tras un largo tiempo, volvemos a las Torcas, para escalar la vía Bar Vodka.

After a long time, we returned to the Torcas, to climbed the to route Bar Vodka.

La vía consta de cuatro largos, con una graduación de 6a y 145 metros (V/A0).

The route has four pitches, maximun level 6a and a length of 145 meters, (V if Aid Climb).

Largo 1 (35m, 6a): La mayoría IV/IV+, con un paso de 6a. Reunión cómoda con dos anillas en dos Parabolts.

1st Pitch (35m, 6a): Most of the pitch is IV/IV+, and one step 6a which is the crux of the route. Confortable belay station 2 bolts with ring.  

Largo 2 (35m, V): Largo fácilmente escalable. Reunión muy cómoda con dos Parabolts unidos por una cadena y una anilla.

2nd Pitch (35m, V): Pitch easily climbable. Belay station very confortable with 2 bolts linked by a chain and a ring.

Largo 3 (35m, III): Trepar, contiene 3-4 seguros.

3rd Pitch (35, III): Easy to climb, it has 3-4 bolts.

Largo 4 (20m, IV): Largo fácilmente escalable que llega hasta la cima.

4rd Pitch (20, IV): Easy pitch that reaches the summit.

Vía Los Picapiedra, Peña del Moro, Mezalocha, España

Los Picapiedra Route (The Flintstones), Peña del Moro, Mezalocha, Spain

¡Finalmente la cuarentena nos permite escalar!, por lo que en nuestro primer día después de mucho tiempo decidimos ir  a Mezalocha a escalar la vía Los Picapiedra, reequipada por Sueño Vertical.
Finally the lockdown allows rock climbing, so on our first day back at it we decided to go to Mezalocha, to rock climb the route Los Picapiedra (The Flintstones), one of the routes "rebelayed" by the guys from Sueño Vertical (Vertical Dream).

Los dos primeros largos de la vía siguen unos diedros escalonados con una dificultad moderada, como no son muy largos los empalmamos.
The first two pitches go through a not very hard stepped dihedrals, as they are not very long we climbed both in only one go.

Esta vez, en vez de hacer el largo final de la vía Avatar,  decidimos hacer el largo original de la vía (6c/A0). Sin duda alguna el mejor largo de Mezalocha, además cuenta con buena roca.
This time, instead of climbing the last pitch of the Avatar route, we decided to climb the original last pitch of the route (6c/A0). The best pitch in the whole Mezalocha with no doubt, it also has quite good rock quality.

La primera parte sube por una bonita fisura muy bonita (V/V+), a partir de aquí comienza lo difícil. La vía continúa por una travesía hacia la derecha hasta llegar a una reunión intermedia, que nosotros evadimos. Tras la reunión la vía sube en travesía hacia la izquierda.
The first part goes up on a very nice crack (V/V+), from here it begins the hard part. The route continues on a traverse towards the right, it ends on a intermediate belay station that we avoid using. After the belay station there is another traverse but this time towards the left.
